Clare has been a Registered Nurse for 20 years. Commencing her career at Epworth Hospital, Clare enjoyed nursing on the cardiac ward and teaching undergraduate students. In 2004, Clare formalised this role with a Graduate Certificate in Clinical Nursing Education.
During her nursing studies, Clare volunteered at a camp for children with Type 1 Diabetes. This experience, coupled with the fact that many of her extended family have Type 2 Diabetes, cemented her interest. In 2008, Clare achieved her Graduate Certificate in Diabetes Education and Health Care.
In 2008, Clare commenced her career as a Diabetes Educator, working in multiple General Practice clinics for the Melbourne Health – Hospital Admission Risk Program. In 2009, Clare achieved Credentialled status with the Australian Diabetes Educator’s Association. In 2010, Clare commenced work at the Alfred Hospital as a Diabetes Clinical Nurse Consultant.
Clare has worked at Inner South Community Health (now Star Health) as their sole Diabetes Nurse Educator, covering sites in South Melbourne, Prahran and St Kilda. During this time, Clare completed her studies at Monash University, graduating with a Master of Public Health in 2017.
Clare loves spending time with her husband, Rohan, and their adorable son, Jarvis. She also enjoys Pilates, reading biographies, playing with her cats, and walking her bulldog– when he cooperates!
