On Friday, May 12th, we celebrated the fantastic contribution nurses make to global healthcare. Without their incredible care, compassion, and dedication the world would be very different.

Nurses are the backbone of the healthcare system, providing compassionate care and support to patients and their families. This year, the theme of International Nurses Day is “Nurses: A Voice to Lead – A Vision for Future Healthcare.” This theme highlights the important role that nurses play in shaping the future of healthcare.

As we look towards the future, nurses will be critical in developing new models of care that are more patient-centred, cost-effective, and sustainable. Nurses are also at the forefront of addressing some of the biggest health challenges facing our world today, from the COVID-19 pandemic to the ongoing fight against chronic diseases like cancer and diabetes. Their dedication and commitment to their patients and communities are truly inspiring.

So on this International Nurses Day, let us recognise and thank nurses worldwide for their tireless work and dedication. We owe them a debt of gratitude for all that they do, and we must continue to support them as they lead the way towards a healthier, more equitable future.
